Arrival

Upon arrival you will be welcomed by Via Maris Tours’ representative, transfer to the Bethlehem to meet with your host families

Dinner and overnight at home-stays in Bethlehem.

Bethlehem

After breakfast, we gather for a general orientation about the trip and the area. Our visit for today will begin at the “Shepherd’s field” in Beit Sahour, then off to the Church of the Nativity in the Manger Square, the Milk grotto, and a walk through the Old city of Bethlehem. Today you will walk through the old market with an opportunity to buy some fresh fruits and vegetables from the local villagers. Lunch for today will be at Dheisheh Refugee Camp, it is one of the refugee camps in Bethlehem, a community comprised of refugees and their descendants who were expelled from Palestine during 1948 and 1967 war. A remarkable visit to Solomon’s Pools and the village of Artas, and the Artas Folklore Museum. Back to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight at the home-stay families.

Jerusalem

Today, we transfer to Jerusalem, to start at the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the Old City and the Kidron Valley. Descending slowly towards the Old City of Jerusalem, walk through the Old City streets and bazaars of the Four Quarters.  Visit the Western Wall, Dome of the Rock, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

Back to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight at the home-stay families.

Hebron

Begin tour of Hebron with a meeting and tour with Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC) to learn about their development work at the Old City. Walking tour of the Old City and interact with local shopkeepers and residents, a visit to the Ibrahimi Mosque (also known as the Tombs of the Patriarchs). On our way back to Bethlehem we will stop at the Hebronite glass and ceramic handicraft factory. Back to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight at the home-stay families.

Jericho and the Dead Sea

A remarkable start of the day will be at St. George Khozeba Monastery at Wadi Qelt (the Valley of the Shadow of Death). Followed by a tour of Hisham’s Palace, then Mount of Temptation, the Palestinian archaeological and antiquities museum funded by the Russian government and the Tree of Zaccheus. Afternoon visit to the Dead Sea the lowest point on earth, with an opportunity to float on the Dead Sea.  Tonight is our last overnight in Bethlehem and with host families,

A fun cultural night and Dabkeh folklore dancing will be waiting for you at one of the local restaurants.

Overnight at the home-stay families

Ramallah & Nablus

Visit to Ramallah cultural centers, including Riwaq Center for Cultural Preservation, and the tomb complex of Yasser Arafat. Continue on to Nablus and Mt. Gerzim to meet the Samaritan community. Visit the Old City of Nablus; walking tour of the Old City souq and Nablus soap factories. Traditional Arabic dinner and a taste of kanafeh (Palestinian cheese-based dessert) which Nablus is famous with.

Evening visit to Hammam (availability permitting) before overnight at the hotel in Nablus.

Sebastia & Departure

Morning visit to archaeological site of Sebastia before being transferred to Tel Aviv for departure.
